Rare T206 Plank and ‘Magie’ Error Cards Lead PWCC December Premier Auction

In the thrilling world of sports memorabilia, few collector’s items generate as much excitement as rare baseball cards. The PWCC December Premier Auction is no exception, as it showcases two of the most sought-after cards from the iconic T206 set, known as the Big Four, captivating the attention of collectors worldwide.

One of the highlights of this auction is an SGC 1 graded T206 Eddie Plank card. With only 39 cards receiving a grade from SGC and an additional 21 graded by PSA, the rarity of the Plank card is undisputed. Although displaying signs of age and wear, including paper loss, creasing, and corner and edge damage, the Plank card’s value remains exceptional. Notably, this is the fourth time this year that a Plank card has been available for purchase. Previous sales include an SGC 1 Plank card that sold for $75,000 in February and a PSA 2.5 variant that commanded an impressive $168,000 in August.

Joining the Plank card is the PSA 2 graded Sherry “Magie” error card, another distinguished item from the T206 set. This particular card features a misspelling of Sherry Magee’s last name, setting it apart and making it highly coveted. The Magie error card shares its legendary status alongside the T206 Honus Wagner and “NY Nat’l” Joe Doyle cards, making it one of the most renowned rarities in the collection.

While the T206 cards garner much of the attention, the auction also boasts an impressive selection of Michael Jordan cards, further emphasizing the enduring legacy and popularity of the basketball legend. Among the standout Jordan cards are the 1997 Metal Universe Championship Precious Metals (#/50) graded BGS 9, the 1998 Skybox Premium Star Rookies (#/50) graded PSA 8, the 1997 Skybox E-X 2001 Essential Credentials Future (#/72) graded PSA 9, and the 1984-85 Star Company XRC cards in both PSA 8 and BGS 9 grades.

Not to be outdone, the auction also features modern hockey treasures. Collectors can bid on the highly sought-after 2015-16 Upper Deck The Cup Gold Foil Connor McDavid RPA (#/12) and the 2005 Upper Deck The Cup Sidney Crosby RPA (#/99), both graded BGS 8.

The PWCC December Premier Auction is already underway, with bidding continuing until December 21st. This auction presents a rare and exciting opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece of sports history and own these iconic baseball cards, along with an impressive assortment of Michael Jordan and hockey cards. With its remarkable selection, this auction is not to be missed by sports memorabilia enthusiasts and collectors alike.
